Author of “Unshattered, Overcoming Tragedy and Choosing a Beautiful Life”
While pregnant with her second child, Carol Decker was hospitalized due to the severe bacterial infection, sepsis. After an emergency C-Section to deliver her child, Carol soon lost 3 of her limbs to amputation & shortly after her sight. She has since worked to overcome what many would consider unsurmountable challenges, from feeding herself and learning to walk on prosthetic legs to putting on her own make-up and fixing her daughters’ hair.
In her book “Unshattered, Overcoming Tragedy and Choosing a Beautiful Life,” Carol shares how she learned to triumph over adversity and pain, to live a beautiful life despite her disabilities. She uses her motivational speaking engagements as opportunities to help others in overcoming their own challenges. She does so with a compassion, strength and inspired ability that makes each individual who comes in contact with her feel special and heard.
It was our pleasure to host an evening with Carol in late October, at the Sutter Health Education & Conference Center in Modesto, CA. Hearing her story was a strengthening experience for everyone in attendance. We are beyond grateful to her for sharing her story of resilience and finding peace after tragedy with all of us. Her perseverance & triumph are sure to inspire us for decades to come.
