Fibromyalgia Pain Management

Living with fibromyalgia can be very stressful, painful, and cumbersome. This condition affects the musculoskeletal system and can create tenderness, fatigue, and physical discomfort. Scientists are still researching what causes this condition, but we know that physical illness, trauma, psychological stress, or an injury can be contributing factors. At Central Valley Pain Management, our goal is to give you the support and treatment that will boost your quality of life and keep your physical, mental, and emotional pain at bay.

How We Can Help

Many people who experience fibromyalgia have painful knots under the surface of their skin. These knots are created by tense muscles that are not able to relax on their own. Trigger point injections are used to deliver medication directly into the knot, or trigger point, within a patient’s body. Trigger point injections can be used to lessen muscle pain in the arms, legs, lower back and neck. Another great option to treat FM is Bursa injections. Bursa injections are administered into specific synovial fluid filled fibrous sacs (bursa), that are adjacent to joints in the body. The injections can help diagnose the source of pain, and also may provide relief. These injections may reduce inflammation, resulting in long term pain relief.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites–commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints. Acupuncture, in its most common form, stimulates acupoints through the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Acupuncture has been known to successfully treat conditions ranging from musculoskeletal problems (back pain, neck pain, and others) to nausea, migraine headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia and even infertility.
